Starting off summer

Starting off summer

Today's the fifth day of summer and it's already so hot.  Summer is the season I was born in so it's always been my favorite, but this year feels a lot different than year past. The pandemic has been keeping me indoors.  I have several people in my life who have fragile immune systems, and I've been working my other job at an essential business since COVID-19 hit.  Please keep wearing masks when you go out, limit your exposure to others, and stay healthy.  This pandemic is far from over, and we're seeing places in the US have to restrict...

April showers and May flowers

April showers and May flowers

Another month sheltered in place, it seems.  Here in Philly, we will be inside until at least June.  I decided to move my studio in my house to a different room, so that's been a big change and undertaking over the past couple of weeks.  I didn't realize quite what a fabric hoarder I'd been until I had to move it all.  It's been inspirational in its own way, though, as it's reminded me all the things I hadn't been able to see.  So while I'll still be creating more pasta toys and monsters, hopefully I can finally try to...

I had written a post to put out in March, but I never hit publish.  It's really strange, it shows a completely different picture of the world than what we're in right now.  It's looking forward to markets and big spring plans - something that seems so foreign, but wasn't that long ago. What's been going on with me through all this? I have a day job.  It's essential and we can't work from home, so I've been coming into the office every week day.  It lends a nice sense of normal in these bizarre times.  I'm very grateful to...

Changes

So I've been thinking about this for a few months, making it all happen in the background, but here it is.  I am separating my work into two brands: Enriched Macaroni Products and Monsteroni. Enriched Macaroni Products will be the home for my catnip pasta, along with more fun pet food items that I'm dreaming up.  (Dog toys are coming very soon, I promise!)  I'm designing a new vendor set up to push a kitschy restaurant vibe, and that will be debuting this spring. Monsteroni is the home for all my monster pals.  Plushies, hats, bags, stickers, coloring books - they...

New Year, Same Noodle

New Year, Same Noodle

It's finally 2020!  This year has been off to a slow start for me.  I'm still recovering from the holidays, which is never easy for me as it's still dark so early.  But diving back into my fabric stash, seeing all the bright colors and cutting out a whole new batch of monsters is starting to brighten my spirit and bring back my creativity. In my last post, I mentioned that my word of the year is dedication.  I've been taking that seriously and have been dedicating a bit of every day to this business.  I know that even 5...
